Washington DC's plastic bag tax reduces single-use plastic bag use by 50% and raises money to clean the Anacostia River

Washington DC’s Office of Tax and Revenue announced that the first month’s revenue from the Anacostia River Cleanup and Protection Act was $149,432.27.  Read the story at D.C. Council member Tommy Wells' website:
