Save the Plastic Bag Coalition sued the City of Long Beach, documents posted
Save the Plastic Bag Coalition filed a Petition for Writ of Mandate against the City of Long Beach back on June 9, 2011. Long Beach created an addendum to Los Angeles County's EIR (unlike the City of Calabasas that just adopted LA County's model ordinance). Save the Plastic Bag Coalition argues that the addendum's changes to the County EIR's GHG threshold of significance (without responding to Petitioner's last-minute objections) merits a Writ.
Save the Plastic Bag Coalition also argues that state law AB2449 preempts local ordinances, which seems to be a moot point - especially at this point in the game.
Does it seem like Petitioner is grabbing at straws here?
