SF's Plastic Bag Ban to Be Strengthened

Some SF Supermarkets have been skirting SF's Plastic Bag Ban by offering plastic carryout bags made of higher-grade plastic that falls within the definition of a "reusable" bags under the ordinance.  Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi has asked the Department of the Environment to close this loophole by strengthening the existing language of the ordinance.
